Behind CALEEPSO, a real scientific base

No guesswork or rough rules here: CALEEPSO is based on hundreds of dynamic thermal simulations, carried out using two benchmark software programs:

• PLEIADES+Comfie for accommodation,
• TRNSYS for school and office buildings.

These software programs simulate the thermal behavior of a building hour by hour, over an entire year, taking into account:

• Sunshine depending on the orientation of the facade,
• Local weather (8 French climate zones),
• The type of glazing,
• The current climate... but also that predicted for 2040 according to IPCC scenarios.

What CALEEPSO allows you to visualize

Once your configuration is defined, the tool displays several clear and concrete indicators:

• Energy savings (in kWh) achieved thanks to solar protection,
• Greenhouse gas emissions avoided,
• Thermal comfort, with an indicator called discomfort degree-hours (DH),
• And the maximum or average indoor temperature, depending on the type of building.

This data allows us to compare a scenario “with” and “without” sunscreens — and the results often speak for themselves.

How does the simulation work?

Nothing could be simpler! The user chooses:

1. Its geographical area,
2. The orientation of the facade,
3. The type of glazing,
4. The type of sun protection (shutter, blind, BSO, etc.),
5. The color of the product (yes, that also counts for thermal comfort!),
6. And finally, the management mode: manual, motorized or automatic (with sensors or home automation).

In a few seconds, you get two simulations:

• One based on the average climate of the years 2009-2019,
• Another with a projected climate scenario for 2040.
