Vestas maintains its annual forecast despite customs duties

"There remains considerable uncertainty regarding tariffs, particularly in the United States, and an increase in these tariffs is expected to lead to increased costs over time," Vestas noted, although it believes this financial impact can be absorbed within its current forecasts.

For the full year, Vestas expects revenues of between 18 and 20 billion euros.

Between April and June, the group's net profit stood at 34 million euros, compared to a loss of 156 million over the same period a year earlier.

The Danish group's turnover, driven by an improvement in its onshore wind projects, increased by 14% to 3,745 billion euros.

"These results were (...) offset by the investments needed to ramp up offshore activity, in order to deliver the first V236-15.0 MW projects," the new generation of giant offshore wind turbines, said group boss Henrik Andersen, quoted in the report.

Order intake fell 44% to €2,2 billion, mainly due to a lack of orders in some of our key markets, such as the United States, where customers are awaiting policy clarification, Vestas noted in its quarterly report.

Despite European states' ambitions to green their energy sources, Western manufacturers have been penalized by supply chain disruptions and rising costs.

The entire sector is also facing a major challenge in the United States after President Donald Trump froze federal permits and loans for all offshore and onshore wind projects.

In China, on the other hand, the heavily subsidized industry is booming, which is alarming Western producers.
