The union of wood craftsmen appoints its new general director

A new chapter in the life of the UNION DES ARTISANS DU BOIS (UAB) is opening. Benoît BURON, current Deputy Managing Director of the UAB, succeeds Alban VIAUD, who has been at the head of the cooperative for 10 years, as Managing Director.

Benoît BURON will bring his skills and commitment to the continued development of the UAB, while remaining faithful to the cooperative spirit that characterizes it.

A succession process initiated several months ago

In September 2023, Alban Viaud, General Manager of the UAB for 10 years, informed the UAB Board of Directors of his desire to transfer the management of the cooperative. The Board of Directors very quickly chose to trust Benoît BURON to succeed him, appointing him Deputy General Manager in April 2024 before voting unanimously on October 8 in his favor for the position of General Manager of the Coopérative de l'UNION des ARTISANS DU BOIS

A handover until 2025

This is a long-term "handover", similar to the one that took place in 2013 between Christian PUAU, founder and first general manager of the cooperative created in 1981, and Alban VIAUD. The latter will remain alongside Benoît BURON until March 2025, as a project manager for the management.

A UAB course serving the ambition and projects of the cooperative

Benoît BURON joined the cooperative in 2018 as operations and logistics manager. He has also been a member of the management committee and deputy general manager of the company since March 2024.

He will focus on continuing to steer the cooperative with the same ambition as his predecessors, that of always better supporting the artisans of our territory and of constantly working towards their development. New challenges will also have to be met on the environmental and economic levels. Despite an uncertain economic situation in the construction market, the cooperative intends to hold its own thanks to the efficiency of its model, based on the numerous services offered, the strength of the collective, the proximity and loyalty of its network of artisans.
