UNICEM committed companies publish a collection of good practices dedicated to sustainable water management

The responsible management of this essential resource is a core concern for the industry. The extreme weather events observed in recent years have further reinforced its importance and the need for companies in the sector to adopt increasingly innovative and appropriate approaches.

This collection brings together nearly 40 good practices, implemented by members with varied profiles, illustrating the diversity of actions undertaken in terms of sobriety, optimization, reservation of water quality, as well as integration into territorial and environmental dynamics.

Through this publication, UNICEM committed companies aims to inspire and support companies in the sector, offering them concrete benchmarks for collective progress. It is also aimed at all stakeholders in the industry, in order to better raise awareness of the commitments of the companies it represents to responsible and sustainable water management.

These examples include actions to save water used to reduce dust emissions generated by the movement of machinery and aggregate production facilities, as well as measures to limit withdrawals from the natural environment and optimize the washing water recycling circuit.
Other initiatives concern the management of mine water treatment facilities and the preservation of a heritage fish species in danger of extinction.

UNICEM committed companies highlights these initiatives by compiling them in this work, structured around five key themes: water savings, water quality, resource management and steering, territorial anchoring and local projects, as well as biodiversity and development.

This publication highlights the efforts made by members to promote more sustainable use of water resources, and beyond that, initiatives that contribute to environmental preservation and regional resilience.

These initiatives not only address immediate challenges; they anticipate future challenges and prepare businesses to address them effectively. Together, they pave the way toward more environmentally friendly management and more sustainable land use.
