This barometer offers an expert and data-driven analysis of the evolution of investment strategies in second-hand public works equipment, intended for private and public stakeholders.

Increasingly rationalized investment strategies

By 2025, decisions regarding the acquisition of construction equipment will be driven by a careful balancing act between price, lifespan, performance, and availability. The barometer highlights a strong concentration of demand on a few key equipment types, reflecting priority uses in the field.

Excavators alone account for nearly 46% of searches, confirming their central role in construction equipment fleets. Within this category, mini-excavators represent almost 66% of searches, reflecting a desire for versatility, compactness, and controlled operating costs.

Another key finding: the majority of searches focus on equipment with controlled operating hours (less than 4.000 hours for tracked excavators, less than 1.000 hours for mini-excavators), a clear sign of buyers' desire to secure their investments over the long term.

Online auctions: a tool for valuing and managing tangible assets

Based on data from Agorastore and Europe-TP.com (Via Mobilis), the barometer highlights the structuring role of online auctions in the valuation of construction equipment.

This sales method allows:

to reveal an objective market price, based on the interaction of supply and demand,
to capture qualified demand, both national and international,
and to place the disposal of equipment within a framework of reuse and circular economy.

Data from auctions show that some equipment reaches valuation levels higher than initial estimates, confirming the value of auctions as a tool for the economic management of tangible assets.
