MaPrimeRénov': the government will remove several projects from the list of aid programs starting in September.

The Ministry of Housing confirmed this direction to AFP on Sunday, validating information published by Le Parisien.

MaPrimeRénov': which works will no longer be eligible?

The changes concern the MaPrimeRénov' scheme by gesture, intended to finance energy renovation work carried out individually, unlike MaPrimeRénov' Large-scale renovation, which supports comprehensive renovations combining several types of interventions.

According to the Ministry of Urban Affairs and Housing, the following works will be removed from the list of eligible operations:

• the installation of wood or pellet stoves;
• solar water heaters and heating systems (excluding overseas territories);
• heat pumps dedicated to the production of domestic hot water;
• ventilation systems;
• roof and attic insulation work;
• window replacement.

These operations will, however, continue to be funded when they are part of a comprehensive housing renovation.

Aid refocused on a few pieces of equipment

With this reform, the scope of MaPrimeRénov' per action is significantly reduced. The main operations still eligible would concern:

• the installation of heat pumps for heating;
• connection to a heating or cooling network;
• the removal of an oil tank.

The ministry is assuming "a responsible choice: to concentrate public money on the most effective renovations", thus favoring comprehensive energy renovation projects.

An entry into force scheduled for September

A decree and an order will be presented to the National Housing Council (CNH), which brings together stakeholders in the sector, on July 2.

According to Le Parisien, these new rules will come into effect in September.

This development is part of the national electrification strategy presented in April by Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu. This strategy stipulates that "all public subsidies for individuals will support the installation of heat pumps."

Professionals emphasize the importance of insulation.

In the context of this electrification strategy, energy renovation professionals emphasized that effective building insulation remains essential before replacing a heating system. Otherwise, new equipment may consume more energy to compensate for heat loss through an insufficiently insulated building envelope.
