The government launches a "prevention passport" to combat workplace accidents

Launched with the Caisse des Dépôts on the occasion of World Day for Health and Safety at Work, this new tool is being implemented as workplace accidents in France remain at a high level.

It will connect training organizations on the one hand, which will be required to declare the training they provide from September 1st, with employers, workers and job seekers on the other, the ministry said in a press release.

For employers, the passport, whose origins date back to a national professional agreement (ANI) of 2020, will allow, from the first half of 2026, to "declare and centralize all occupational health and safety training provided to their employees."

From the 4th quarter of 2026, they will also be able to share their training courses with employers or recruiters if they wish, thereby promoting their skills and their employability.

Around two people die from work-related accidents every day in France, a figure that has not decreased for many years.

In 2023, the French Health Insurance recorded more than 700.000 workplace accidents, of which approximately 555.000 resulted in compensation. According to the same source, workplace accidents caused the deaths of 759 people (21 more than in 2022). These include commuting accidents (332 deaths) and deaths related to occupational diseases (196).
