The budget should allow France to "continue to reindustrialize" and create jobs according to Macron

"There is work that needs to be done between the government and Parliament," said the head of state, in response to a question about the balance to be found between taxation and deficit reduction. "France must continue to reindustrialize, must continue to innovate and must continue to create jobs and encourage job creation, that is the country's priority," he continued.

The automobile industry, and in particular the electric vehicle sector, is a good example of this policy aimed at reindustrializing France, insisted the president: "We are consolidating an electrical sector that produces and will produce even more at home," he added, whereas when he arrived at the Elysée in 2017, there were "no electric vehicles produced in our country."

The government presented a 2025 budget project on Thursday, including a drastic reduction in spending and a return to tax increases, in order to clean up public finances.

This project is however likely to be profoundly reworked in the National Assembly, where the "budget battle" begins on Wednesday in the Finance Committee: the government will specify certain savings by way of amendments and the opposition will also submit a number of them.
