The Ministry of Housing publishes a guide for professionals in energy diagnostics and audits (DPE)

The Minister reaffirms her desire to combine energy performance and heritage preservation without complicating current regulations. The guide focuses specifically on recommendations for work to improve the energy performance of housing in the Energy Performance Certificate (DPE) and energy audit.

In addition to the parliamentary work currently underway, particularly in the Senate, the guide addresses in particular the case of buildings using traditional construction techniques as well as heritage buildings in order to help professionals formulate recommendations for work adapted to these types of buildings, which require specific attention.

When property diagnosticians work on this type of building, they must take special measures to correctly assess the energy performance of these buildings and formulate appropriate work recommendations.

The method for calculating the DPE remains the same for this type of building, in order not to complicate the process and not to degrade its reliability. The parameters may, however, differ to take into account the presence of traditional materials (for example, cut stone, raw earth, etc.) and the work to be carried out is specific in order to avoid the risk of damage to the building, such as humidity or mold due to inadequate insulation.

The guide published today offers recommendations and best practices designed to support professionals, both diagnosticians and energy auditors. It was written in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and has been extensively reviewed by all professionals.

It is essential to integrate old buildings into the energy transition, and suitable solutions exist to achieve this effectively. This is the whole purpose of the plan I launched to restore confidence in the energy performance diagnosis. The DPE is a structuring tool for our housing and energy transition policy; it must be used pragmatically, based on reliable data and recommendations adapted to the diversity of the building stock."
