The Minister Delegate for the Civil Service, David Amiel, announced on Wednesday February 18 the launch of a territorial mobilization to improve the housing of public employees in areas with high real estate pressure.
During a trip to Marseille, he announced that he had sent out a circular to all prefects in order to "identify the areas where housing tensions are highest" and find "local solutions to improve access to housing for public employees".
This joint initiative with the Ministers of Public Accounts Amélie de Montchalin and Housing Vincent Jeanbrun should allow "a territorial mobilization to better house public employees and guarantee the continuity of public service", according to a press release.
"If we cannot house those who keep public services running, then it is the public service itself that is in danger," the Macronist minister insisted in Marseille.
A bill on housing for civil servants, aimed in particular at allowing a public employer to insert a clause in a contract in order to recover social housing when a public employee changes jobs, is currently being discussed in Parliament.
It was passed in its first reading by the National Assembly on January 12 and is due to be examined by the Senate on March 30.
