From May 2026, the High Council of Notaries publishes the volumes of transactions of old housing on the last Thursday of each month, at the national and departmental level.
These figures come from the Real Estate Reference Database (BRI), which is populated by all notaries in France, guaranteeing reliable, comprehensive, and consistent information across the country. This database currently contains over 27 million property transfer records.
Two reading levels are available for each publication:
- Nationally (excluding Mayotte): transaction volumes are available with a one-month lag, presented in the form of a curve.
- At the departmental level: volumes are available with a two-month delay, presented in map form.
The regular dissemination of these figures provides an up-to-date and detailed monitoring of the existing property market, and allows for a better understanding of its dynamics at both the national and local levels.
