A new version of eco-responsible lighting
Derived from the range of OptiClip luminaires with replaceable LED modules which already marked a notable advance in terms of sustainability in 2020, OptiClip TERRA combines performance, design and eco-responsibility.
Made in France in the Saint-Etienne factory of Sylvania Group, it is composed of:
- of a frame made entirely from paper, 60% of which is recycled and 40% from sustainably managed forests. Folded, without added glue for the most ecological design possible, it is 100% recyclable,
- of two removable LED modules clipped onto the surface of the luminaire and connected to the driver by Plug and Play connection. The replacement of only the defective parts is very simple, thus considerably reducing not only maintenance and servicing costs but also waste, while extending the life of the product.
Added to this is the production of the OptiClip TERRA and its delivery to customers that is more virtuous compared to its steel equivalent. Indeed, its manufacture from a natural material emits 80% less CO2 and thanks to its reduced weight (1200 g), CO emissions2, during transport, are reduced by 40%.
As part of its overall eco-responsible approach, Sylvania Group has also paid attention to the smallest details to minimise the environmental impact of the OptiClip TERRA. Installation instructions are printed on the back of the luminaire to limit the use of additional paper. Wrapped in a 100% recyclable protective film, the luminaires are packaged in packs of 4 in a certified sustainable cardboard box printed with eco-friendly ink and supplied with their PEP ecopassport.®. Based on the results of the product's Life Cycle Analysis (LCA), this true environmental identity card provides transparent evidence of the performance of the OptiClip TERRA in this area.
The first paper that sheds light on tertiary and educational sites
The first eco-responsible lighting solution on the market, OptiClip TERRA is above all a LED luminaire. As such, it benefits from all the qualities that characterize Sylvania products in terms of reliability, aesthetics, visual comfort and energy savings.
Although made of paper, it has a high resistance to fire in accordance with EN 60598 (incandescent wire test at 650°C) as well as to humidity up to 60% and can even be cleaned using a soft damp sponge and a dry cloth. Results obtained and validated by tests thanks to its specific structure whose original material is supplied by DS Smith, one of the world's leading manufacturers of corrugated cardboard packaging.
With a sleek design for discreet integration into all interior spaces, its high luminous efficacy (up to 127 lm/W) and low glare index (UGR<19) make it ideal for lighting offices, conference rooms and classrooms.
Available in 600×600 mm dimensions, in warm white (3000K) and neutral white (4000K) with a CRI>80, it is available in DALI and SylSmart Connected dimmable versions. An obvious choice for Sylvania Group, whose LED solutions combined with its intelligent lighting management system and its SylSmart Connected Pro digital platform often enable energy savings of up to 80%. What more, with a lifespan of 60.000 hours (L80B10) and a 5-year warranty, to further reduce the carbon footprint of the OptiClip TERRA!
To support the commercial launch of the OptiClip TERRA, Sylvania Group is rolling out a print and digital communication campaign. Inspired by origami, it creatively and originally highlights the preferred sectors of this innovation: education and offices.
With the OptiClip TERRA, which is part of its ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) policy, Sylvania Group is taking a revolutionary initiative in terms of the sustainability of lighting solutions and is signing its first collection of eco-responsible products which will be brought together as they are developed under the same banner: TERRA.
This approach illustrates more than ever Sylvania Group's commitment to reducing its ecological footprint through an environmentally friendly manufacturing process, using recycled materials and minimizing waste at every stage of production, as well as promoting responsible consumption. Its determination in terms of sustainable development, rewarded by obtaining Ecovadis Silver certification this year, should undoubtedly allow it to become the first manufacturer in the lighting sector to illuminate the path towards a more sustainable planet.
