Socomec strengthens its North American presence with the opening of a large-scale industrial site near Atlanta

The group's fourth industrial site in the region, this new factory is dedicated to the manufacture of static transfer systems (STS) and uninterruptible power supplies (UPS). Its ambition: to meet the growing demand for reliable and high-performance solutions to secure the power supply of critical infrastructures, particularly data centers.

This project is part of Socomec's overall strategy to strengthen its industrial sovereignty in each of its operating areas. Similar to recent investments in Benfeld, France, this facility allows the group to consolidate its competitiveness and capitalize on the dynamism of the North American market, driven in particular by the growth of data centers.

North America: a strategic lever for Socomec's development

With more than 750 employees and an estimated turnover of 241 million euros in 2025, the North American region (NAM) confirms its role as a strategic lever for Socomec, showing annual growth of more than 20% for the fifth consecutive year.

This performance is based on more than 15 years of local presence, strengthened by the progressive integration of recognized players such as Boltswitch® (Chicago), Continental Control Systems® (Denver), and Powersmiths® (Toronto), now united under a common brand identity: Socomec. These acquisitions have enabled the group to expand its technological offering and strengthen its position in the North American market for power switching, metering, storage, and conversion.

Commissioned in March 2026, the Atlanta site is the first production facility in North America to have been entirely designed and developed by the group's teams. It is expected to reach full production capacity in early 2027 with 300 employees on site.

According to Paolo Previtali, director of the Suwanee industrial site: « We met a major challenge: opening an 18.000 m² industrial site in just eight months, from the signing of the lease to the rollout of the first product. This strategic initiative allows us to better meet our customers' needs and confirms our commitment to being a firmly local player. »

Customer proximity and industrial sovereignty at the heart of the strategy

This development illustrates Socomec's commitment to placing customer proximity at the heart of its industrial decisions. In a context of increasingly stringent local and regulatory requirements, producing as close as possible to markets is becoming a key factor for success. The construction of a new production plant in Benfeld (Alsace) – the group's historical home – is a perfect example of this.

The static transfer systems (STS) and uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) manufactured in the factory are essential equipment for the proper functioning of critical infrastructures such as hospitals, industrial sites, commercial buildings or data centers.

Local expertise to support the growth of data centers

The data center market is experiencing unprecedented growth, driven in particular by the development of artificial intelligence. According to Gartner, global electricity consumption by these infrastructures could double by 2030, making this sector a major energy issue.

In a North American environment governed by strict standards (UL in the United States and CSA in Canada) and complex certification processes, Socomec is strengthening its local presence to provide equipment perfectly suited to these requirements. A dedicated North American development team specializing in the data center market is also being assembled, with specialists from diverse cultural backgrounds.
