In mid-September, Eiffage announced a global order intake from Smulders (Belgian subsidiary of Eiffage Métal) of more than 1 billion euros by 2024 thanks to the winning of eight significant contracts in the growing offshore wind sector.
Among these contracts, Smulders won the EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) contract awarded by Chantiers de l'Atlantique, acting on behalf of RTE, for the jacket foundations of the two electrical substations of the future Centre Manche 1 and Centre Manche 2 offshore wind farms.
Each structure will weigh approximately 7.000 tonnes and will support an electrical transformer substation with a capacity of 1,25 GW.
With the support of the Eiffage Métal teams in France, Smulders will ensure the manufacture of the two jacket foundations, from 2026, on its production sites in Belgium, followed by final assembly on the Vlissingen site in the Netherlands. Delivery of these two foundations is scheduled for 2029 for Centre Manche 1 and 2030 for Centre Manche 2.
This contract strengthens Smulders' position as the European leader in the turnkey metal structures market for this sector and Eiffage's ability to support France's ambitions in the energy mix and the development of renewable energies.
