Schenker Stores takes up the challenge of a minimalist and highly technical facade

The project is distinguished by a contemporary polygonal facade, combined with large frameless SKY-FRAME type glazed surfaces, reflecting a strong desire for minimalism and transparency.

This ambitious architectural approach quickly presented a dual challenge to the design teams and technical partners: maintaining a clean, uncluttered facade without superfluous visible elements, while simultaneously ensuring wind resistance, thermal comfort, and effective solar protection for the high-rise glazing. These demanding structural and functional requirements were met by Schenker Stores, who provided a fully customized solution.

A technical solution designed in close consultation with the project owner

From the earliest stages of the project, Schenker Stores specialists worked closely with the client and the construction management team. The building's structural constraints—particularly its post and beam construction—precluded the use of conventional track-guided solutions, despite their reputation for wind resistance. Conversely, standard cable guidance would have required a proliferation of cables, compromising the desired aesthetic purity.

The solution developed relies on targeted reinforcement of the supporting structure at the window sills, allowing for maximum tension on the guide cables. This approach has enabled a minimalist solution, minimizing visible elements while ensuring the stability of the blinds, even in high wind conditions. It illustrates Schenker Stores' ability to translate specifiers' expectations into reliable technical solutions adapted to demanding architectural designs.

Z-blade external venetian blinds to combine performance and aesthetic discretion

The choice fell on Z-type (VR 90) adjustable louvered sunshades, known for their great flexibility of use and their ability to precisely control solar gain. While preserving natural light and ventilation, these external venetian blinds ensure optimal solar protection thanks to precise and continuous light adjustment.

The aluminum slats, equipped with a blackout seal, ensure a high level of light blocking and contribute to reducing the building's energy needs. Available in 31 standard colors – or any RAL color upon request – the VR 90 external venetian blinds adapt to all architectural configurations. For this project, the matte dark black RAL 9005 shade was chosen, perfectly harmonizing with the facade to enhance the overall visual coherence.

Demanding coordination in the service of constructive precision

To meet a particularly tight construction schedule, the design process was deliberately reversed: the 54 adjustable sunshades were ordered in advance, and then the supporting structure was precisely adjusted to the exact dimensions of the blinds. This method required close coordination and numerous technical exchanges between Schenker Stores and the project management team to ensure the dimensional tolerances essential for the project's success.

A tailor-made solution for ambitious architectural projects

As a result of this process, the building now benefits from a shading solution that is perfectly integrated into the overall design of the façade. Developed specifically for this purpose, the external venetian blinds fully respect the original architectural intent while guaranteeing maximum durability in the face of the site's harsh climatic conditions.
