The head of state is expected at 16:30 p.m. at the Sanofi site in Neuville-sur-Saône, near Lyon, the presidency announced on Monday.
This "factory of the future", the result of an investment of 500 million euros by Sanofi and the State, will produce innovative vaccines and biomedicines thanks to a modular and fully digitalized process, "a first in France and in the world", according to the Elysée.
This investment, announced by Emmanuel Macron in June 2020, in the midst of the Covid-19 crisis, will ensure "health sovereignty and French and European industrial attractiveness" thanks to its large-scale production of vaccines, the presidency emphasizes.
In the process, the Head of State, an ardent defender of apprenticeships, will attend the opening ceremony of Worldskills 2024, a sort of Olympiad for young people in the construction, creative arts, technology and logistics sectors, until September 15 in Lyon.
Some 250.000 visitors are expected at the Eurexpo site, where 1.400 competitors under the age of 23 will be welcomed. More than 70 countries and regions are participating, following national selections.
Emmanuel Macron, omnipresent since his arrival at the Elysée in 2017, has promised to be more withdrawn after the defeat of his camp in the legislative elections of June 30 and July 7 and the appointment on Thursday of a right-wing Prime Minister, Michel Barnier.
Very unpopular, he also intends to reconnect with the French people, by going to meet them and showing himself to be attentive to their needs, but also to boast about his record, from learning to the reindustrialization of the country, beyond the earthquake caused by his decision to dissolve the Assembly on June 9.
His last outings in France, outside of Paris, date back to June 18, on the island of Sein, for the commemoration of General de Gaulle's Appeal and to August 15 in the Var for the 80th anniversary of the Landing in Provence.
During his first seven years at the Elysée, Emmanuel Macron made numerous trips across France, up to twice a week, very often making announcements from his ministers on health, education, security or employment.
