SNCF Gares & Connexions

This strategy also anticipated incentive regulations including the Climate & Resilience law of 2021. It is applicable to buildings and requires, depending on their use and surface area, the installation of greenery or solar devices on roofs.
SNCF Gares & Connexions is experimenting with an innovative project at Sedan station: the installation of photovoltaic tiles. Sedan was chosen for this experiment because of its unique characteristics, which make it the ideal site.
The station benefits from adequate energy consumption, large oriented roof sections allowing diffuse production during the day and a framework in good condition.
Following an in-depth analysis, a business consultation file and a call for tenders were launched to select the most suitable service provider for this mission, according to rigorous technical and financial criteria. The company Le Bras Frères was thus selected to carry out the work.
The Sedan station project
Sedan station will benefit from 1.200 m2 of renovated roof, 890 m2 of which will be equipped with photovoltaic tiles. This system will produce 95 megawatt hours per year in renewable energy, equivalent to the consumption of 20 homes. The station will consume 60% of this production, while the remaining 40% will be sold to EDF Obligation Achat. The modest weight of the photovoltaic tiles did not require reinforcement of the framework.
SNCF Gares & Connexions is determined to be at the forefront of the ecological transition and to continue to innovate for sustainable mobility for all.
