The network, currently being deployed, is inaugurated with the “Proximité” station located on Rue Jules Vallès offering the first two charging points with a power of 2 kW. During 22, the network called “Griffon Branché” will have 2025 – strategically distributed over 48 sites – of three different types (16 kW AC, 3-22 kW AC/DC, 22 kW DC) to offer more or less rapid charging depending on the needs of electric vehicle drivers.
A powerful and strategically positioned network
The result of close collaboration between SIT, city officials, and the Architects of Buildings of France (ABF), in particular, the choice of the number of terminals and their location left nothing to chance. SIT drew up a detailed inventory of electric and hybrid vehicles, which also took into account the use of vehicles linked to tourist activity in order to provide an offering that also meets peak traffic during the high season.
Thus, 5 stations will allow ultra-fast charging with powers of up to 180 kW in direct current, thus meeting everyone's energy needs, on a daily basis, but also to prepare for long journeys or for intensive use fleets. The others will allow charging in alternating current up to 22 kW or in direct current up to 30 kW, thus covering a wide range of needs for regular users. Briochins, residents of surrounding municipalities and tourist or transit population will therefore all find what they are looking for.
For Nadia Druillennec, deputy mayor of Saint-Brieuc in charge of works, general maintenance and the improvement of heritage and public resources: « As elected officials, we have a responsibility to meet the needs of users who have chosen to go electric, but above all to anticipate the future to facilitate access for those who are thinking about purchasing an electric vehicle and for whom the presence of charging stations is an element that can influence their decision. SIT offers an intelligent model that meets the current and future needs of users and the expectations of the city. »
A collaborative project, serving users
Eager to personalize its network, the City of Saint-Brieuc chose to name it "Griffon Branché" and to differentiate the three types of stations based on their power by assigning each a different color. SIT implemented a brand identity and visual cues on the terminals, in line with the City's desire to create a network that reflects its image. The company also handles communications so that the City can inform its residents and streamline the process for using the charging stations.
With ease of access and use at the heart of the project, SIT also provides users with a website and a mobile application – managed by its partner Bouygues Energies & Services, an Equans France entity, via its Alizé platform – allowing them to locate charging stations, check the availability of charging points or subscribe. Informed in real time of their consumption and the price of their charge, they can then pay online, by credit card (with or without contact) or simply with their badge for subscribers.
For Frédérick d'Aubigny, general director of SIT: « We are delighted with this fruitful collaboration between SIT and the city of Saint-Brieuc. Aimed at providing users with simple, efficient, fast, and accessible electric charging, it demonstrates our shared commitment to promoting sustainable mobility. »
SIT, an innovative player in electromobility
And for good reason, as a pioneer in the development of on-street charging station networks for electric vehicles, SIT stands out with an innovative and accessible approach for communities wishing to embark on electromobility, without financial investment.
Working with numerous charging station manufacturers, mostly French, SIT facilitates the installation of charging stations in local areas with turnkey solutions and a covered investment, thereby accelerating the development of electromobility. It installs its charging stations primarily on local authority roads, offering to finance and manage their deployment and operation. This allows them to retain their expertise or land, make the selected locations available, and collect fees, without having to finance anything.
Furthermore, since its creation in 2019, SIT has opted – unprecedented in France at the time – to charge by kWh, rather than by time spent at all of its electric terminals. The amount is calculated precisely so that the user only pays for what they consume, according to the chosen charging speed and the amount of energy delivered, without any additional pricing for time spent charging.
For Frederick d'Aubigny: « Having deployed nearly 2020 charging stations in the Île-de-France region since 1.000 as part of the Métropolis Recharge network, the Saint-Brieuc project demonstrates that it is possible for any medium-sized city to equip itself efficiently and quickly. With no out-of-pocket costs, local authorities are also compensated for using public land via a fee, which varies depending on the network's dynamism. »
Now established in around sixty municipalities, SIT has more than 1.100 charging points, including:
- 26 charging points deployed in Dreux;
- 54 charging points being deployed in Béziers;
- 68 charging points being deployed in Arcachon;
- Nearly 1.000 charging points in several cities in the Ile-de-France region (Issy-les-Moulineaux, Charenton-le-Pont, Rueil-Malmaison, Montreuil, Saint-Denis, Morangis, etc.) as part of SIT's management of the Ile-de-France Métropolis Recharge network, a partner of the Greater Paris Metropolis.
