Rockwool expands its Mb Rock range for timber frame construction with Mb Rock Pro

In addition, it acts as a carbon sink: 1 m³ of wood stores on average 1 tonne of CO2[1], the equivalent of a round trip from Paris to New York by plane for a passenger. A wooden house can thus store between 15 and 20 tonnes of CO22. More ecological, wooden constructions nevertheless require special attention. To meet the specific safety requirements of this type of building, ROCKWOOL is expanding its range dedicated to timber-frame constructions with MB Rock Pro, a new insulation panel made from rock wool, a non-combustible material.

A complete response to the requirements of timber construction

Timber construction requires specific insulation requirements: thermal and acoustic performance, resistance to fire, humidity, pests, etc. Mb Rock Pro has a thermal conductivity of 35 mW/mK, ensuring efficient insulation in all seasons and guaranteeing true thermal and acoustic comfort in summer and winter. Mb Rock Pro also contributes to indoor air quality, with an A+ rating for VOC emissions.

Its rock wool composition gives it triple resistance to the most common risks of wooden frames:

• Thermal performance: Lambda 35 provides high thermal performance.
• Protection against fire risk: non-combustible (Euroclass A1), rock wool withstands temperatures above 1000°C.
• Moisture resistance: Highly breathable, thanks to its fibrous structure. This insulation has the ability to allow water vapor that might be "trapped" in a wall to escape and dry. Rock wool thus effectively maintains humidity control and reduces the risk of mold.
• Limits the spread of termites: devoid of any nutrients for termites and does not promote their survival.
• Optimal acoustic comfort: thanks to its porosity which traps sound waves, rock wool is an optimal sound absorber, and its high density allows it to attenuate noise, thus providing high-performance acoustic comfort.
