Rockwool and Face Atlantique insulate 24.000 m² of the new industrial park of the Legendre Group, dedicated to timber construction

Face Atlantique, a major player in waterproofing and cladding, called upon ROCKWOOL to insulate the facades and roofs of the Legendre Group's new industrial center dedicated to timber construction, located in Étrelles (35). In total, four units of 6.000 m² each benefited from ROCKWOOL's insulation solutions.

The project was designed to address a dual challenge: securing the building envelope and preparing the roof for the installation of photovoltaic panels.

Combining the installation of photovoltaic panels and exterior insulation

The choice of rock wool panels was a natural one for this industrial project involving timber construction. On the facade, the Rockfaçade and Rockbardage solutions enhance fire safety while ensuring optimal performance during the construction phase.

Fire safety: rock wool, a non-combustible material suitable for photovoltaics

For the roof, the Rockacier C nu Energy solution was chosen to allow for the future installation of photovoltaic panels under controlled technical conditions. This choice notably meets fire safety requirements: rock wool is a non-combustible material, classified A1, capable of withstanding very high temperatures, exceeding 1.000°C. For a large industrial building, this characteristic is a determining factor, particularly when a roof is intended to accommodate a photovoltaic installation.

According to Martin Leblanc, site manager, Groupe Legendre: "Today, the use of rock wool for this type of construction site, which will later receive photovoltaic panel installations, is obvious in order to comply with the insurers' specifications."
