Ris-Orangis in Essonne presents its stadium project in the hope of welcoming PSG

"We firmly believe that the site we are proposing is exceptional, unique, and ideal for the future PSG stadium and its village," said the mayor of this town of 30.000 inhabitants located around twenty kilometers south of Paris.

Wearing a jersey from the capital's club, emblazoned on the back with the words "Objectif 2030," Stéphane Raffalli outlined the site's assets: its size (100 hectares of wasteland), its accessibility from Paris via major highways (A6, Francilienne) and public transport (RER D, tramway 12), as well as the absence of nearby housing or specific regulations due to the public nature of the land.

Faced with Paris City Hall's refusal to sell the Parc des Princes, the club's historic stadium located in the west of the capital, PSG announced last year its intention to move to a site it would own.

Around ten towns in the Paris region have since expressed interest in hosting the Champions League finalist's future stadium, including Poissy (Yvelines), Massy (Essonne) and Aulnay-sous-Bois (Seine-Saint Denis).

The site defended by Ris-Orangis includes a former racecourse, which ceased to be operated in 1996, and a former Lu-Danone factory, demolished in 2007.

The French Rugby Federation (FFR) had once planned to build the new French rugby stadium there before the project was abandoned by its former president, Bernard Laporte, after his election as head of the FFR in 2016.

"It is a catchment area of ​​600.000 inhabitants that in a certain way supports this candidacy," said Michel Bisson, Socialist Party president of the Grand Paris Sud agglomeration, which includes around twenty municipalities in Essonne and Seine-et-Marne.

"This project is structuring for the region and will have a very strong impact on the southern Paris region," added Eric Braive (various left), president of Coeur d'Essonne Agglomération, which includes municipalities such as Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois, Brétigny-sur-Orge and Fleury-Mérogis.
