Resumption of work on the A69 construction site: a common sense decision for the FNTP

The Administrative Court of Appeal considered that the arguments relating to the existence of an overriding reason of major public interest were serious and of a nature to justify the annulment of the judgments of the Administrative Court of Toulouse.

Today's decision is not only legally sound, but also a common-sense decision: it vindicates the project's defenders, by recognising once again the existence of an overriding reason of major public interest in the motorway link between Castres and Toulouse.

The National Federation of Public Works has consistently affirmed the project's compelling reason for major public interest, alongside all the communities concerned (Occitanie Region, Tarn Departmental Council, Castres-Mazamet Urban Community and Sor and Agout Community of Communes), in light of the prospects for development, attractiveness and competitiveness that this project offers to the region and its inhabitants.

The decision of the Toulouse Administrative Court of Appeal finally puts an end to the period of economic uncertainty experienced by businesses in this region, with more than 1000 direct jobs and 6000 indirect jobs threatened by the shutdown of the construction site.

In a context of chronic legal uncertainty for project leaders, the National Federation of Public Works defends more than ever the need for a large-scale reform to legally secure infrastructure projects.
