Reev Companion: a free tool for commissioning and maintaining charging stations

reev Companion combines the collective expertise of reev and leading hardware manufacturers into a solution capable of addressing up to 60% of recurring, high-impact faults through a combination of automated troubleshooting and guided diagnostics. reev Companion succeeds reev eWizard and expands its scope by offering a dedicated solution for post-installation monitoring and service.

Leveraging multi-manufacturer fault data and manufacturers' specific expertise, the solution centralizes technical knowledge currently scattered across the market. It lays the foundation for scalable, hardware-independent diagnostics, capable of progressively expanding to interoperable troubleshooting across the entire charging infrastructure. For electricians and full-service providers, this translates into fewer unnecessary interventions, faster incident resolution, and charging stations that remain operational over the long term.

The installation is just the starting point

A project doesn't end with the installation of a charging station. Proper commissioning, integration into the energy and charging management system, and stable long-term operation are essential. This is precisely where reev Companion comes in.

From the initial integration phase, the tool guides electricians step-by-step through the configuration of the charging stations, including the Energy Management System (EMS). Model-specific instructions facilitate correct configuration and minimize common errors. Thanks to the multi-station installation capability, several charging points can be configured and activated simultaneously. The power threshold, EMS activation, and device parameters are centrally recorded. An automatically generated installation report documents all parameters. An official commissioning confirmation is then sent to the customer, validating the stations' entry into operation.

Continuous visibility after commissioning

Thanks to reev Companion, electricians can check the status of installed terminals at any time ("online", "offline" or "in fault"), as well as connectivity details, relevant technical data and specific error information.

If a fault persists and cannot be automatically resolved by the AI-based Smart Recovery function, electricians receive an automatic email notification. Alerts are only sent for relevant and persistent problems. This allows for rapid intervention and better prioritization of emergencies.

Clear error analysis and targeted remote assistance

According to Sofia Ahanen, Senior Product Manager at reev: “Manufacturer-specific error codes are among the main points of friction in daily service operations. reev Companion translates manufacturer-specific OCPP codes into clear, model-specific troubleshooting steps using AI-assisted analysis. This approach simplifies diagnostics and enables faster, more autonomous troubleshooting.”

At launch, the AI-powered diagnostic assistance covers more than 50 critical cases from major manufacturers such as Hager, Schneider, Mennekes, ABL, KEBA, and Walther-Werke. Combined with reev's Smart Recovery feature, it enables the resolution of up to 60% of recurring, high-impact incidents, either automatically or independently by electricians through guided diagnostics. This estimate is based on internal modeling of typical service scenarios in which electricians can intervene without requiring external support from manufacturers.

This scope is continually being expanded in order to deepen fault intelligence and further increase the proportion of incidents that can be dealt with without on-site intervention.

Many malfunctions can thus be resolved without requiring on-site visits. The web application allows users to check the status of charging stations, restart them, or perform certain functions remotely, helping to reduce unnecessary interventions and optimize the maintenance of the charging infrastructure.

Web application accessible without additional constraints and at no cost

reev Companion is accessible as a web application on both mobile devices and desktop computers. During installation, access is granted via config.reev.com as part of the integrated setup process. For post-installation support and service, electricians receive an email containing a secure access link, either upon completion of the installation or in the event of a fault detection, without separate login, registration, or additional costs. The application is tailored to the daily needs of the electrician's profession.
