For this project, Ash & Lacy designed the Natural X product supplied by Aquarian Cladding Systems Ltd, a cladding panel featuring an advanced mechanical fastening system. This technology ensures a reliable, durable, and high-performance installation, while meeting the most stringent requirements.
Firing the terracotta tiles gives each piece a unique flamed finish, highlighting their authenticity and timeless quality. The Villandry color, achieved through this process, reveals a palette of warm and refined shades, ideal for bringing a touch of sophisticated elegance to any architectural project. These natural shades, harmoniously blended, enhance the materials and adapt perfectly to all styles, whether contemporary or traditional.
Rairies Montrieux cladding tiles combine tradition and innovation: they preserve the natural and authentic appearance of terracotta while incorporating modern manufacturing methods. This innovative product also meets the needs of the MMC (Modern Methods of Construction) market, offering an aesthetically pleasing and high-performance solution for the projects of today and tomorrow.
Porta Labicana Residence, Rome, Italy
This is an urban regeneration project on the edge of the San Lorenzo neighborhood, where the property is part of a housing complex that combines pre- and post-war social housing and artisanal buildings. The demolition and reconstruction work aimed to encourage urban revitalization and the recovery of the buildings.
The project comprises three buildings of varying heights, primarily residential, housing 20 apartments of varying sizes, a ground-floor office, and a communal gymnasium. The central space, designed as an accessible and protected courtyard, incorporates green spaces and shared functions, fostering a sense of community.
Materials and colors of the facades
Inspired by the modern typology of typical San Lorenzo balcony houses, the project is distinguished by its light, sober, and uniform brick facades, highlighting the loggias and their openings. The metal elements, such as the stairs and railings, adopt a single shade for the interior surfaces, creating a chromatic contrast that emphasizes the interior-exterior duality and reinforces the architectural identity of the complex.
This cladding gives the walls a lightness and a material quality, while accentuating the interplay of volumes. The vibrant aesthetic of white tiles is a strong point, providing a strong and clearly connotative visual identity.
Rairies Montrieux's responsiveness and adaptability were decisive criteria for the architects in their choice of facade products. This was particularly due to their precise vision of the walls' appearance and the ability to conduct in-depth research until they found the product that perfectly met their requirements.
Tan Tat Project, Melbourne
In the heart of Melbourne, the Tan Tat project symbolizes a successful fusion of architectural heritage and modernity. It offers 55 rental units, ground-floor retail, and two-story offices. Located on Elizabeth Street, one of the main arteries of the city's central business district, the building establishes a visual dialogue between its preserved historic portion and its contemporary extension.
The project's flagship element is a jade-colored terracotta facade, custom-designed by Rairies Montrieux in partnership with Robertson Facade Systems. In addition, Rairies Montrieux's custom-made terracotta corner pieces were integrated into prefabricated panels produced by Australian company Macquarie Precast.
Thus, thanks to a clever blend of textures, colors, and styles, this façade creates a harmony between tradition and innovation, giving the project a distinctive and memorable visual identity. By enhancing every detail of the original building while integrating modern solutions, this project opens new perspectives for urban development in Melbourne.
