RER E traffic was partially interrupted on Wednesday, June 4, after a drill being used on a construction site "accidentally hit" railway electrical installations in the north of Paris, SNCF Réseau reported.
The drill, which was working on a construction site outside the SNCF, in the 10th arrondissement of Paris, "drilled above the Magenta station, on the RER E" and "accidentally touched railway electrical installations," the press release stated.
This "seriously damaged the RER E overhead lines and caused the entire power supply to Gare de l'Est to trip," which was gradually restored. TGV, TER, and Transilien trains departing from Gare de l'Est have been able to resume service, according to SNCF Réseau.
The RER E, which connects Nanterre (Hauts-de-Seine) to Tournan-en-Brie (Seine-et-Marne), remains partially interrupted, with "diagnostics" being "underway to determine the nature and duration of the repairs", which should be completed by 15:00 p.m. according to the press release.
On X, the SNCF specifies that the RER E does not run between the Nanterre-La-Folie and Rosa Parks stations, in the northeast of Paris.
