Prysmian launches Ignitech™, a new generation of cables for enhanced fire safety in public buildings and high-rise buildings

With the entry into force of the new fire regulations applicable to Public Access Buildings (ERP) and High-Rise Buildings (IGH), Prysmian, world leader in cable systems for energy and telecommunications, announces the launch of IgniTech, a new range of halogen-free cables with improved fire performance.

Compliant with Euroclass Cca-s2, d2, a2, these cables embody Prysmian's commitment to enhanced safety for people and property.

A public safety issue

With 254.200 fire interventions expected in 2023, or one fire every two minutes, fire safety is a major issue. A quarter of fires are linked to faulty electrical installations, causing 450 deaths and 10.000 injuries each year, 70% of which are due to toxic fumes.

Faced with this risk, the Ministry of the Interior is strengthening cable regulations for public buildings and high-rise buildings from 2025. These requirements aim to improve disaster prevention and reduce their human and material consequences, in a context where fires represent more than 4 billion euros in losses each year.

IgniTech, a concrete and innovative response

Developed by Prysmian's R&D teams, IgniTech cables are designed to:

significantly slow the spread of flames,
reduce the fall of flaming droplets,
minimize the acidity of the emitted gases,
limit the opacity of fumes.

Thanks to a thermoplastic polyolefin jacket and advanced flame-retardant materials, the cables form a protective barrier in the event of a fire while maintaining their electrical performance under extreme conditions.

The launch of IgniTech marks a new step in Prysmian's commitment to strengthening its role as a trusted partner for construction professionals, with solutions that comply with regulations, are easy to install and are fire-safe.

Designed for installers, in full compliance with standards

In addition to its technical performance, IgniTech offers several practical innovations:

easy unsheathing thanks to the exclusive solution IgniTech Isy (5 to 10 times less pressure required),
colored borders that can be annotated by section, to simplify identification and storage,
a pose designed to limit repetitive movements, reduce errors and improve efficiency on construction sites.
