Porsche calls on the technical expertise of SPIE

SPIE Nuhn, a subsidiary of SPIE Deutschland & Zentraleuropa, is responsible for this achievement. In the future, the new Porsche Experience Center will offer visitors its own driving circuits (including off-road tracks) to show its vehicles directly on site, as well as various conference rooms, a restaurant and an exclusive venue for meetings and events.

SPIE carried out the electrical installations for the new Porsche Experience Hockenheimring center. The works, which began in January 2019, have now come to an end. The two companies are continuing their fruitful cooperation: for more efficient and sustainable energy consumption, SPIE plans to install a remote lighting control system at the Porsche Experience Center.

Comprehensive electrical services

PIE carried out all the basic installations of this new site of approximately 4500 m². In particular, the teams installed lighting (including security) and fire alarm and voice alert systems. “As far as lighting installations are concerned, we have benefited from our long experience in the installation of complete special lighting in the field of event organization and catering. For example, the lights have been specially adapted and designed for the Porsche brand ”, explains Paul-Erwin Oswald, project manager at SPIE Nuhn. In total, SPIE teams laid some 90 kilometers of cables, 30 kilometers of computer fiber and 45 kilometers of low voltage power lines. In addition, 350 smoke detectors, 160 outlet boxes on the ground and 1850 luminaires were installed. The design of all installations, from the exposed cable support systems to the individual spotlights of the exhibits, was tailor-made for Porsche.

The next stage of this fruitful cooperation is already being planned: “We are preparing an application for the remote control of lights, with lighting patterns specially adapted to the operation of the rooms. Once this solution has been implemented, the customer will be able to control the lighting of the entire building from a tablet, and thus act on the energy consumption of the installation ”, continues Paul-Erwin Oswald. In the future, this technology will allow Porsche to operate the various lamps in the lighting system flexibly from reduced wiring. The lights can be combined to form different sets of lights, which can then be saved and activated at any time.

A successful contract thanks to effective collaboration

An important success factor has been the excellent coordination and agreement between the developer, the client and the subcontractors - with short decision-making circuits and sufficient flexibility in case of changes at short notice.

“We worked closely with developer Emodrom Bau und Grund GmbH and our customer Porsche to meet all requirements on time. This direct cooperation has enabled us to carry out our mission to the greatest customer satisfaction ”, adds Andreas Erich, operational manager of SPIE Nuhn.
