It is therefore constantly seeking to innovate and modernize its industrial tool to make it more sustainable and more efficient in order to produce premium quality solutions.
This is evidenced by the recent modernization of its tile production unit in Pargny-sur-Saulx (51), which, thanks to latest-generation robotization, has become the most modern in the group. This investment also allows EDILIANS GROUP to concretely pursue its decarbonization plan. A cornerstone of its commitment to reducing its environmental footprint across all its industrial activities, this aims to reduce its emissions by 30% by 2030 at group level (compared to 2021).
A historic site at the origin of the famous Huguenot terroir appellation...
The first tile and brickworks developed by the Huguenot family in 1811, the EDILIANS GROUP site in Pargny-sur-Saulx gave birth to the Huguenot terroir appellation and helped to forge the reputation of the terracotta tiles that are still manufactured there.
Located on a 20 hectare site, the Marne factory is the worthy heir to ancestral artisanal know-how which, combined with an incredible potential for technical innovation, produces a wide range of terracotta tiles characteristic of the roofs of the Centre, North and East regions of France.
100% made in France, the manufacture of these terracotta tiles contributes to maintaining local employment with 150 people and 250 indirect jobs, thus contributing to the dynamism of the region.
…become a technologically advanced site
On its Pargny-sur-Saulx tile production line, which has naturally aged over time, EDILIANS GROUP has invested €8 million in 2024 to modernize the part dedicated to tile manufacturing and coloring and to optimize the installation from an energy perspective. This investment aims to maximize all positions from a safety and ergonomics, environmental, and industrial quality and performance perspective.
Completely rehabilitated, the unit now benefits from latest generation robotization thanks in particular to autonomous guided vehicles, dedicated to the automation and optimization of logistics flows in the factory:
- Scara-type robots with laser scanning vision were installed with tracking technology,
- Autonomous guided vehicles transport products throughout the manufacturing process. Their very high level of safety guarantees optimal co-activity with operators, who thus see their working conditions greatly improved.
Thanks to this latest innovation, Pargny-sur-Saulx is serving as a pilot site. It is, in fact, the first EDILIANS GROUP site to benefit from this cutting-edge technology, used for the first time in the terracotta industry in Europe.
Beyond this transformation, the workstations were completely redesigned during this investment to become much more ergonomic, efficient and significantly improve product quality.
Additionally, the water network used to moisten the mixture has been replaced by the recovery of cleaning and rainwater. In addition, the cleaning systems have been optimized. This further demonstrates EDILIANS GROUP's strong environmental commitment!
Investments in line with EDILIANS GROUP's decarbonization plan
In addition to optimizing industrial performance and safety, the investments made at the Pargny-sur-Saulx production site are part of the decarbonization plan initiated by EDILIANS GROUP in 2021.
With a total amount of €100 million, it aims to reduce the company's environmental footprint across all of its industrial activities and thus reduce its direct CO emissions by 30%.2 by 2030 at the group level. The modernization of the Pargny-sur-Saulx site contributes significantly to this at the environmental level with:
- a drop of 1.000 m3/year of its drinking water consumption,
- a reduction of approximately 900 tonnes of CO2 thanks to optimization work carried out on the oven,
- a reduction in annual electricity consumption of 200 MWh, achieved by installing lower-power LED lighting to replace older-generation luminaires and low-consumption motors.
So many concrete actions, and many more to come, which have earned the EDILIANS GROUP production site in Pargny-sur-Saulx ISO 50001 (energy management) certification since 2024.
