Panasonic launches a ducted PACi NX unit capable of regulating up to five zones

Panasonic Heating & Cooling Solutions is launching a new multi-zone ducted indoor unit within its PACi NX range. The solution has been designed to distribute air and regulate temperature independently in several spaces within the same building.

Designed for residential and commercial projects, the equipment can manage up to five zones. Each outlet has its own fan and dedicated motor, in order to adapt the airflow and temperature to the needs of the space served.

Independent management for five zones

Unlike a conventional ducted system that relies on a single control unit, the PACi NX multi-zone system modulates its operation zone by zone. An unoccupied office can therefore receive less air than a meeting room in use, while occupants maintain separate temperature settings.

According to Panasonic, this architecture should improve comfort and reduce unnecessary energy consumption. However, the manufacturer does not provide any figures in the information released to allow for a comparison of energy savings with those of a traditional ducted system.

Integrating multi-zone control into the indoor unit also reduces the number of external components required. Since the fans and their motors are directly connected to the different outlets, the installation does not require external controls or additional accessories to manage the zones.

A horizontal or vertical installation

To adapt to space constraints and the configuration of air distribution systems, the unit can be installed horizontally or vertically. This dual option is particularly suited to projects where the available space in suspended ceilings or technical rooms is limited.

The system design must also facilitate duct connections and commissioning of the control system. The new range of indoor units covers capacities from 7,1 to 14 kW and remains compatible with the PACi NX Standard outdoor units.

Built-in Wi-Fi and Modbus

The PACi NX multi-zone system features integrated Wi-Fi. A single internet connection allows you to control all zones from the Aquarea Home app, without needing multiple gateways.

The integration of the Modbus protocol also facilitates communication with building management systems. This compatibility allows ducted air conditioning to be integrated into a more comprehensive strategy for controlling the energy equipment in a home or commercial building.
