PPG Group celebrates 10 years of its global Colorful Communities initiative and brings color back to community services

On June 7, 14 and 21, 2025, nearly 120 people - employees of PPG Saultain and Marly, members of the Parents' Association (APE) and local partners - will volunteer their time to renovate, repaint and create magnificent frescoes with the painters, Léona Rose and Sabartdeco.

Organized in close collaboration with the Parents' Council and the Estreux Town Hall, this project demonstrates a strong local commitment and a shared desire to create inspiring educational spaces that will provide a framework with a lasting impact on students, staff and families.

A large-scale project to beautify and brighten up the Estreux school

460m2 will be repainted, spread throughout the school, to encourage imagination and movement:

• Nature-themed murals will be displayed in the common areas: canteen, daycare, courtyard, playground.
• The motor skills room will be repainted and the toilets renovated.
• The outdoor areas will be enlivened by creative paintings: a rocket hopscotch, a maze, running lanes and a colorful football field will be illustrated with playful motifs (insects, crocodile, snail, snake).
• An orchard will be created and trees planted to bring nature into the heart of the school.

When selecting colors and color combinations for walls, doors, and windows, the artists drew inspiration from school palette suggestions, specially developed by PPG color experts to promote learning and well-being at school.

Nature-inspired murals designed by Léona Rose will unfold like a chromatic promenade of harmonious shades from the CHROMATIC® color palette. They will invite joy, curiosity, and wonder, encouraging a deeper connection through expressive animal figures and imaginative details.

Artist Léona Rose really enjoyed the social dimension of this educational project. She is indeed very committed to her practice, and regularly carries out volunteer projects with NGOs and orphanages. She believes in the therapeutic virtues of art (drawing to calm anxiety, painting to develop concentration) and likes to make creation accessible to all. The idea of ​​participating in the rehabilitation of an existing place, rather than building new ones, taking care of what we already have, rather than building is a virtuous and ecological approach that appealed to her.

For Sabartdeco, this first experience is very enriching. "It's a real pleasure for me to be able to beautify this courtyard where children play, run, and chat. Making this space more playful, colorful, and welcoming fills me with joy, because I know it contributes to their happiness and daily fulfillment."

To support this project, PPG provided financial and material support of 133 euros, including 000 liters of PPG paint including SEIGNEURIE® paints: Seigneurie Pancrytex TT Bas Carbone Mat (a low-carbon exterior facade paint, ideal for renovation projects requiring long-lasting protection that benefits from fast-drying technology), Seigneurie Pantex Bas Carbone Mat (a fast-drying all-weather facade paint, based on Recycled Materials technologies - resins and fillers derived from recycled windshields - and CO200 Optimization - a formulation aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions -), Seigneurie Elyopur Mat (a matt interior paint for walls and ceilings, designed with "Air Purifying" formaldehyde capture technology, to improve indoor air quality and promote a healthier living environment) and Seigneurie Primwood Rapid Satin (an ultra-fast-drying microporous paint for wood that allows the surface to breathe, protecting it from moisture and ensuring optimal performance sustainable).

In addition to these projects, PPG announced the extension of its Colorful Communities program for the next 10 years, dedicating an additional $10 million, bringing its total investment to $25 million by 2035. To capitalize on the program's positive impacts, PPG and the PPG Foundation will also distribute a total of $1 million in grants this year to 100 current and former Colorful Communities partners.
