Orsted files a lawsuit against the suspension of its wind farm project in the United States

The Trump administration announced at the end of December that it was suspending all major offshore wind projects under construction in the United States, citing "national security" reasons.

The Revolution Wind project, in which Orsted is a co-shareholder with the American fund Global Infrastructure Partners, was due to start supplying electricity at the beginning of 2026.

The project "suffers significant damage" as a result of its suspension, and "legal action is necessary to protect rights", the Danish group believes.

"Revolution Wind obtained all the required federal and state permits in 2023, following extensive reviews that began more than nine years ago," he points out.

The project is almost 90% complete and is expected to provide electricity to more than 350.000 homes by 2026 under 20-year purchase contracts.

Orsted had already challenged an initial suspension of his project in August by the Trump administration and had won his case in September.

Accusing them of killing birds, whales and "ruining the landscape", Donald Trump has multiplied his actions since returning to power last January to put a stop to the offshore wind industry.
