Optipose Slim, the new generation lightweight coping stone for sustainable construction

WESER continues its "Your Asset for Sustainable Construction" journey with the launch of Optipose® Slim, a new generation of lightweight, smoother, and higher-performing coping stones offered at the same price point as its existing patented OPTIpose® range. An evolution of its current offering, this innovation retains the male/female interlocking assembly principle, while further simplifying installation and improving the aesthetics of the finished structure. This new version also aligns with the company's CSR approach, reducing material usage and carbon footprint. Optipose® Slim meets the expectations of professionals by covering the essential market needs with a solution that is technical, sustainable, and optimized.

OPTIPOSE® Slim: the evolution of a proven concept

The patented OPTIpose® concept has marked a true breakthrough in coping installation thanks to its ingenious assembly system. Designed to simplify daily operations on construction sites, it reduces installation time by up to 50% thanks to its male/female interlocking profile, which naturally guides the installer and guarantees perfectly linear alignment. Highly praised by professionals, since 2011, OPTIpose® has resulted in over 10.000 kilometers of coping installed, equivalent to the distance between Paris and Tokyo.

This method allows for continuous installation, unlike traditional jointing which requires waiting for the coping stones to be fully and linearly positioned before applying the grout. The sealant is applied progressively by simply applying a bead of flexible acrylic sealant to the male part of the joint, ensuring efficient installation and eliminating the need for rework and subsequent interventions.
The overlapping joint, made possible by the assembly of the elements, provides lasting protection for the structure while offering a neat, drip-free finish. Furthermore, this coping incorporates drip edges on each side to limit water infiltration and runoff.

In a spirit of continuous improvement, WESER is evolving its already proven concept with Optipose® Slim, a lighter, smoother and even more efficient version, in perfect alignment with its CSR approach.

A range tailored to the expectations of professionals

Developed following the Satisf'ACTION customer study conducted by WESER at the end of 2024, Optipose® Slim addresses the clearly expressed needs of industry professionals: lighter, more aesthetically pleasing products that are more environmentally friendly. In line with this approach, WESER has chosen to offer this new product at the same price point as the existing OPTIPOSE® range, thus reaffirming its commitment to providing even greater added value to its customers while remaining competitive with market prices.

The company has thus redesigned the 8 most requested formats of its classic OPTIpose® range (flat, 1 slope, 2 slopes and special flat – available in the most common widths on the market, 28 and 33 cm) by working on their weight reduction, while maintaining their technical performance.

This new range covers nearly 90% of wall coping needs, for both fences and parapets. Furthermore, its compatibility with all types of substrates, its variety of formats and colors (off-white, dark, gray, and stone) allows for perfect adaptation to each site configuration and harmonious integration with all architectural styles.

An innovation serving performance and the environment

The development of Optipose® Slim is part of the research and development program " Durable » implemented by WESER in September 2024, whose objective is to reconcile product weight reduction, performance improvement and reduction of environmental impact, in line with the company's ambition to reduce its CO₂ emissions by 20% by 2030.

With this in mind, extensive work was carried out on the concrete mix design to enhance mechanical strength and compensate for the reduced material content. Simultaneously, sourcing materials from local quarries committed to responsible practices helps to minimize the carbon footprint while ensuring a high level of quality.

This project represents a 2% reduction in WESER's carbon footprint, linked solely to material savings, at constant volume based on the 2022 assessment data. This first lever will be complemented by the optimization of local supplies, the impact of which will be measured during the next carbon footprint update in 2027.

Particular attention has also been paid to the surface finish, in order to move beyond the standards of vibro-pressed concrete, historically perceived as more granular and rough. Optipose® Slim stands out with a significantly smoother, more homogeneous, and more seamless finish, offering a look and feel close to that of poured concrete. This technical choice significantly improves ease of maintenance, limits the penetration of water and dirt, and reduces the growth of microorganisms, resulting in increased durability of the structures.
