Nexity and Accenta partner to develop geothermal energy in multi-family housing

A concrete response to energy and climate challenges

In France, heating accounts for 50% of energy needs, primarily met by fossil fuels (gas, heating oil). Geothermal energy, on the other hand, is a renewable, local, and efficient energy solution, with potential production across 97% of metropolitan France. It allows for heating and cooling homes at a low marginal cost, while significantly reducing CO2 emissions, thanks to geothermal borehole systems with a lifespan of at least 80 years, exceeding that of all other energy production devices. This solution guarantees optimal thermal comfort year-round, stable energy costs for apartment buildings, and a direct contribution to combating climate change. Through an industrialized and integrated approach developed by the joint venture formed by this alliance, geothermal energy is now accessible to multi-family housing, whereas previously it was mainly deployed in commercial or single-family homes. The company is thus positioning itself as a key partner for local authorities and real estate players in their decarbonization journeys, integrating geothermal energy as a structuring lever in their local energy policies.

An innovative and competitive business model

Thanks to the third-party financing system, residents benefit from controlled and stable costs over time, with a significant decrease after the first few years of operation, thanks to the very long lifespan of geothermal infrastructure. The joint venture will enable the industrialization of geothermal energy deployment in eligible buildings and municipalities, with a development potential of 5.000 homes per year connected to geothermal energy by 2028.
