More than two-thirds of French construction companies affected by weather-related delays

This is the key finding of Aggreko's latest report, 'Building Resilience: Weatherproofing European Construction in a Changing Climate', which examines the impact of extreme weather on the construction industry in Europe.

Written following a survey of 850 building contractors in eleven European countries (Germany, Belgium, Spain, France, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Norway, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Sweden), this document highlights local differences regarding the types of weather conditions considered the most risky.

When asked about this, French participants first cite hail and snow (26%, the second highest percentage behind Italy for this response), followed by heavy rainfall (24%) and heat waves (19%).

In addition to financial penalties, difficult weather conditions continue to have a significant commercial impact on construction sites in France. For the country's project managers, unpredictable weather also causes equipment breakdowns (41%) and delays (also 41%, the highest figure for this response in Europe).
