Thanks to this additional platform height, professionals can now work safely up to 3,40 m. Made in France, in Ambierle (42), it meets the expectations of professionals looking for practical, reliable and standardized solutions.
Swing gates provide a much more practical solution than traditional strap or chain systems. They guarantee increased security while simplifying operation for users, particularly in industrial and logistics environments.
Models with self-closing gates provide a complementary solution to current gates, while guaranteeing perfect security, each solution being adapted to its working environment.
Presented at several trade shows, the PIRL with self-closing gates has already won over customers thanks to its ease of use, practicality, and robustness. Mondelin plans to increase its Gardia PIRL with industrial companies, local authorities, and construction companies.
French know-how at the service of security
Manufactured in the Mondelin factory in Ambierle (42), Gardia safety stepladders embody French expertise. From laser tube cutting to robotic welding, painting, and assembly, every stage of production is carried out in-house to ensure impeccable quality.
This choice of local production helps limit the environmental impact and support employment in France.
These new models took around 6 months to see the light of day, between the design of the product, the production of prototypes, the tests and the validation of SOCOTEC.
The entire PIRL range is certified by SOCOTEC.
Numerous resistance and stability tests are carried out and a conformity examination is carried out by an independent body: SOCOTEC. The Gardia are compliant with the European standard EN 131 as well as the PIRL NF P 93-353 standard.
ZOOM on the risks of working at height in France
In France, after occupational road hazards and manual handling, falls from height are the leading cause of workplace deaths and identified permanent disability. This represents an average of 126.000 workplace accidents covered by health insurance each year.1 In 2021, falls from height and falls on the same level accounted for 12% of first-time occupational accidents with four or more days off work over the year, representing the situation of 1 people. There were 22.224 deaths, according to the 84 annual report of the Health Insurance – Occupational Risks. Just over half of these accidents occurred in the construction and public works (BTP) sector.2. This is also the only sector where the proportion of falls from height resulting in a work stoppage of four days or more is almost identical to that of falls on the same level. For other sectors, the proportion is half as low. Finally, in 20% of cases, falls from height involve the use of a ladder.
or a stepladder.

For Arthur Narelli, Mondelin R&D Technician: "The introduction of a new Gardia height of 140 cm, as well as the availability of all sizes with a self-closing gate, allows us to meet an ever-increasing and diversified demand. All these models fully meet the requirements of the PIRL standard, and we also offer a 10-year warranty, proof of our commitment to quality."
To reduce these risks, Mondelin has been collaborating since 2019 with prevention organizations such as CARSAT Rhône-Alpes to develop secure platforms for working at height. With the Gardia PIRL range, the company offers solutions that comply with current standards and are adapted to the realities of professionals.
Gardia, a practical and robust PIRL-standard stepladder
Gardia secure stepladders have been designed to have all the advantages of a stepladder in terms of maneuverability and compactness, while being PIRL compliant.
Its wheels, integrated inside the structure, are spring-loaded, allowing for easy and smooth movement of the platform simply by pushing it with your foot. The wheels then automatically retract under the user's weight as they work, ensuring perfect stability. This ingenious design also allows the platform to be brought as close as possible to the task at hand.
The Gardia have swinging guardrails, which may or may not have springs for automatic closing. These guardrails are much easier and quicker to install than the chains or straps found on some models on the market. In addition, extra-wide, deep, and non-slip grating steps provide additional safety when climbing or descending. For those under 110 cm tall, there's no need to install stabilizers, which makes movement easier. Stabilizers are required for heights of 110 and 140 cm.
For Marion Demore, Mondelin Brand Manager: "We know that the use of PIRLs is not always appreciated by users, who find them difficult to handle and cumbersome. Our main objective was clear throughout the Gardia creation process: to simplify the use of PIRLs by getting as close as possible to the design of a stepladder; while ensuring compliance with the PIRL standard, to guarantee perfect safety. We want to convince and gain the support of users, not just specifiers or buyers."
Developed in collaboration with everyday PIRL users, the Gardia provides a solution to their constraints while making their work easier. And above all, this helps protect their health and safety. In addition, its robust construction in aluminum material ensures superior durability. Finally, it benefits from a 10 warranty, proof of its reliability. In addition, many spare parts are available to extend its lifespan.
