Modelec is supporting the revival of a century-old company in Spain

Named Palimpsest, the project is based on a simple idea: to write a new chapter without erasing the previous ones. This delicate approach preserves the soul of the place while adapting it to contemporary uses. In this subtle dialogue between heritage and modernity, the electrical fittings from the Iris by MODELEC collection, recognizable by their porcelain fronts, contribute fully to the overall architectural coherence.

The historic house, characterized by its generous proportions and privileged relationship with natural light, has been restored with profound respect for its original character. The volumes have been opened up, the openings reinstated, and the timber roof structure revealed to fully restore the building's spatial quality. A contemporary extension now houses the bedrooms and service areas, asserting a distinct architectural language while harmoniously engaging with the existing structure.

In a project where every detail has been meticulously considered, the Iris switches and sockets by MODELEC blend seamlessly with the refined materials and clean lines that define the overall design. Wood, natural stone, concrete, steel, and porcelain create a timeless palette in which the electrical fittings become true elements of interior architecture. The delicate sheen of the porcelain, the collection's signature material, lends a discreet and sophisticated presence that resonates with the house's history while underscoring its contemporary character.

More than just a technical device, the switch here becomes part of the everyday living experience. Its discreet presence, precise touch, and high-quality finish reflect the attention paid to every gesture and every material. This approach perfectly aligns with MODELEC's philosophy: to design functional objects that contribute to the beauty and harmony of spaces.

Since 1976, MODELEC has been developing and manufacturing high-end switches, sockets, and home automation solutions in France for residential, hotel, and commercial projects. Machined from premium materials such as brass, aluminum, steel, wood, and porcelain, the brand's collections offer architects and decorators great creative freedom thanks to a wide range of finishes, functions, and customization options.

In Banyoles, this demand for quality finds a particular resonance. In a house where past and present coexist with elegance, the Iris by MODELEC fittings demonstrate that even the most technical elements can fully participate in the architectural expression of a project.
