An exemplary project serving the environmental transition and territorial dynamism
The company has officially taken possession of its new headquarters, located in Thizy-les-Bourgs, near its logistics platform (14.000 m2 operational since February 2026). After more than 50 years at its historic site in Cours-la-Ville, this move symbolizes a major transformation, both organizational, environmental and societal.
A new step for the company
Organised during July, the move allowed all administrative and support teams – with the exception of the company's testing laboratory and showrooms – some 140 employees, to join this new, more spacious site from Monday, July 15, 2026.
Located just 10 kilometers from its historic home in Cours-la-Ville, occupied since 1971, this new headquarters marks a turning point in MALERBA's history, accompanying its evolution and ambitions for the future.
A true company project, this new building is named "Maison MALERBA" in memory of a pivotal period when employees used to say they worked "in the big Malerba house." Its President, Bruno MALERBA, is keen to emphasize that "MALERBA's origins lie in Cours-la-Ville. However, due to a lack of available land, I chose to establish this new headquarters in Thizy-les-Bourgs. We owned a property there, ideally located on the strategic Roanne-Amplepuis axis and close to a train station with service to Lyon. This choice aligns perfectly with my plans and vision for the company's future."
A seat with an exemplary carbon footprint, designed to transform working methods
Developed around the concept of "Maison MALERBA", this headquarters with 3,822 m² of usable space, composed of 2 buildings on 2 levels, offers a profoundly renewed working environment perfectly in line with the environmental challenges of the construction sector: decarbonization, biodiversity, mix of materials, resource and energy conservation… The result of an investment of more than 10 million euros, it is designed to be bright, open and modular in order to promote exchange, collaboration and concentration.
Particular attention was paid to the organization of spaces to optimize the strategic placement of the various departments. Similarly, the company also sought to increase spaces for interaction and meetings by creating, among other things, numerous quiet areas and connected meeting rooms.
With a strong focus on the future, compliance with RE2020 regulations, and committed to achieving " HQE® – Sustainable Building" certification at the "Very High Performance" level, this building supports a major cultural transformation, marked in particular by a significant increase in digital processes and a substantial reduction in paper usage. In this way, it represents a genuine renewal of the company's identity, positioning it within a dynamic of attractiveness while reinforcing its local roots.
“This new headquarters embodies our desire to evolve our working methods towards greater cohesion, digitalization and responsibility,” emphasizes Bruno MALERBA.
A collaboratively developed project for a strong architectural signature
The building was designed by the multidisciplinary architecture firm AIA Life Designers, renowned for its commitment to health, well-being, and the environment. Conceived as part of its first RE2020 tertiary project, it stands out with a strong architectural identity centered around the "Maison MALERBA" concept, a guiding principle for the firm's architects who designed and executed the project.
Thus, the company's identity is reflected in the roof design and interlacing patterns on the facade, reminiscent of the "M" in its logo, as well as in the "cabins" motif that punctuates the interior spaces. Conceived in close relation to its environment, this harmonious and coherent architectural project blends seamlessly into its landscape.
Beyond its technical design, which prominently features wood and glass as well as MALERBA product references, this project is above all a collective endeavor. Co-created with the MALERBA teams, it reflects a shared vision of the workplace of tomorrow: an open, unifying space adapted to the actual needs of employees.
According to Delphine Béji, President of AIA Life Designers: “The MALERBA House perfectly illustrates our conviction that a high-performing building is first and foremost a building designed with and for its users. This project demonstrates that it is possible to reconcile environmental ambition, quality of use, and architectural expression in service of a shared vision of work and the future.”
An exemplary project serving the environmental transition
From its inception, the project was designed to address current environmental challenges. Subject to the RE2020 regulations, it goes beyond regulatory requirements with a voluntary HQE® certification approach – Sustainable Building (High Environmental Quality), at the “Very High Performance” level.
This ambition has translated into bold technical choices. The project utilizes geothermal energy for heating and cooling. Furthermore, its design prioritizes thermal inertia (concrete floors and structures). Summer comfort has also been optimized through the deployment of passive systems and ceiling fans. It's worth noting that the project also incorporates a comprehensive energy approach, with the implementation of a collective self-consumption electricity system powered by a 1088 kWp photovoltaic installation located at the neighboring MALERBA logistics center. Producing over one million kWh of green energy annually, this system benefits both the headquarters and neighboring industrial sites within a 10 km radius. In addition, the project has promoted the widespread use of bio-based materials (timber-framed facades, natural insulation, lime plaster).
Finally, it's worth noting that this project concretely illustrates the principles of the circular economy. It reused materials from MALERBA construction sites, such as the golden stones from a demolished building, which were used to fill gabions. Thus, whenever possible, deconstruction waste was used with a view to maximizing resource efficiency.
A strong commitment to the territory
True to its values, MALERBA chose to prioritize local companies for the construction of its new headquarters. The majority of the contracts were therefore awarded to local businesses, actively contributing to regional economic growth.
Among the companies involved are CREABOIS (Parigny, interior design), AUBONNET (Cours, plastering & painting), MOOS (Amplepuis, electrical engineering), PJA (Vougy, landscaping), BEZACIER (Le Cergne, bio-based facades), and BLANCHET Groupe (Montbrison, low-carbon aluminum exterior joinery). Special mention should be made of the contribution of FRANCE DECORS (Thizy-les-Bourgs, interior design). Committed to a strong CSR approach, the company designed, produced, and installed all the custom-made office furniture in the new headquarters.
This commitment, important for Bruno MALERBA, is part of a logic of sustainable territorial development, through active support for local employment and the strengthening of regional sectors and collaboration with historical partners.
Finally, it should be noted that the project also incorporates a territorial environmental dimension with the enhancement of a natural area located between the new headquarters and the MALERBA logistics platform. This area includes a wetland of approximately 4500 m² where improvements have been made to promote the gradual development of a wetland ecosystem, for which MALERBA has committed to ecological monitoring for 30 years.
A long-term, future-oriented project
Carried out over nearly four years, from conception to the first days of operation, this project embodies an ambitious and systemic vision: to combine technical innovation, environmental responsibility and territorial anchoring.
Designed with and for its users, this new headquarters opens a new chapter in MALERBA's history. A true catalyst for transformation and a communication tool, it will support the company's long-term evolution.
For Bruno MALERBA: “This new headquarters is a tool. It will allow us to work better together, develop greater cohesion between teams, and accelerate the adoption of more modern working methods, particularly digitalization. We also hope that this modern workspace will allow us to attract new talent, enabling us to continue our development and increase our efficiency.”
