MaPrimeRénov' will be suspended again until January 1, 2026 if the budget is not adopted, according to the Minister of Housing.

"No budget, no cash box," the minister said in an interview published Saturday evening by Le Parisien, while the draft budget is currently being examined in the Senate and its final adoption before December 31 is far from certain.

The MaPrimeRénov' energy renovation grants had already been suspended for several weeks in early 2025 due to a lack of funding, and then partially during the summer, "causing tens of thousands of applications to be blocked," Vincent Jeanbrun points out. Nearly 80.000 applications are currently being processed, including 45.000 for single-family homes and 38.000 for apartment buildings, he specifies.

"All applications submitted in 2025 will be processed in 2026. But if a further suspension were to occur due to a lack of approved budget, it would only further delay the deadline," he said.

But if the draft budget is passed, the minister wants MaPrimeRénov' to "return to its original ambition by supporting all households," and not just low-income and very low-income households. Families facing the greatest difficulties will nevertheless receive more subsidies, indicates Vincent Jeanbrun, who wants to "move away from the 'stop and go' approach that disrupts the entire system."

He also wants the aid to "primarily support comprehensive renovations": wall insulation and the installation of a biomass boiler (wood or pellets) will remain covered in this context, but not when it comes to "monogests", i.e. isolated works.

The minister, who plans to announce a "major housing plan" at the beginning of the year, also wants to create a "renovation bank" so that the co-ownership can apply for a loan to carry out energy renovation work.
