Lorient launches an innovative urban planning operation to improve its residential offering

To respond to the housing crisis and the objectives of Zero Net Artificialization (ZAN), Lorient Agglomeration is committed to an innovative urban planning operation called BIMBY - BUNTI.

For Marc Boutruche, Vice-President in charge of Housing: "This operation should make it possible to improve the residential offer and propose flexible alternative housing solutions, to strengthen the attractiveness of our territory."

The objective of BIMBY - BUNTI is to help owners in the 25 municipalities of the Agglomeration to discover the potential of their property, to design and then carry out their new construction project or the creation of building land in their garden (BIMBY) or the rehabilitation and reconfiguration of existing properties (BUNTI). The intention is to create a tailor-made, well-located, affordable housing offer, to enhance the built heritage, to improve the comfort and living environment of residents while limiting urban sprawl.

With this operation, Lorient Agglomeration offers its residents/owners the opportunity to become actors in the revitalization of the territory and the transformation of their living environment. Different projects may be involved:

• Building a new home in your garden to make a rental investment
• Create a building plot by dividing the existing plot to reduce the maintenance burden
• Adapt housing or build a single-storey house to improve accessibility
• Reconfiguring a home to meet the family's changing needs
• Rehabilitate a vacant property to live in or rent it out
