Single-skin façades continue to dominate installed volumes, with an projected 85% market share by surface area in 2025, thanks to their cost-effectiveness, speed of implementation, and adaptability to a wide variety of buildings. However, they are evolving towards increasingly high-performance solutions, incorporating solar control glazing, more sophisticated thermal breaks, optimized profiles, and advanced prefabrication solutions that reduce construction time.
In parallel, double-skin façades continue to gain traction in higher-quality, technically demanding projects. Long reserved for a few flagship high-end office developments, they are gradually establishing themselves as a credible solution for simultaneously addressing the challenges of thermal comfort, acoustic insulation, energy efficiency, and architectural enhancement. However, the market is suffering significantly from the economic and geopolitical crisis, which is impacting budgets and sometimes leading clients to opt for simpler projects.

Prospects for a gradual recovery starting in 2027
In the medium term, MSI Reports anticipates a gradual recovery of the lightweight facade market from 2027-2028, driven by the expected restart of commercial construction, the massive need for energy renovation and the modernization of the existing building stock.
Renovation is, in fact, one of the main drivers of growth in the sector. Energy-efficient renovation projects for office buildings from the 1970s-1990s are expected to generate sustained demand for high-performance facade systems capable of simultaneously improving energy efficiency, comfort, and the asset value.
In this context, players able to invest in innovation, industrial prefabrication and low-carbon solutions will have a major competitive advantage in a market that continues to rise in technical and environmental sophistication.
