EPTB Seine Grands Lacs renews its flood prevention action program (PAPI) for the Seine and Marne in the Paris region

The PAPI is built around 4 priority objectives:

• Reducing the vulnerability of the Ile-de-France region
• Act on the hazard to reduce the cost of damage
• Help disaster-stricken areas recover quickly from damage suffered
• Mobilize all stakeholders around the risk culture

At the end of this first period, the results show that this program, of a scale unique in France, created a collective dynamic beneficial to the territory.

Knowledge of natural phenomena is considerably improved, the awareness of neighboring populations strengthened, as well as warning and crisis management, and new flood control structures have been installed. Pursuing the same objective, in a progressive approach of continuous improvement, the construction of a new structure, the pilot site of La Bassée, was integrated into the program in 2020, with the dual objective of reducing the levels of the flooding Seine. and ecological enhancement of the Bassée aval region.

The very encouraging results of this PAPI n ° 1 led the EPTB Seine Grands Lacs to continue the work started and to develop a PAPI n ° 2 which will extend over the period 2022-2028.

This second program, the scope of which will evolve and integrate new players, will consolidate this dynamic and make Île-de-France a better prepared and more resilient territory in the face of the forthcoming floods of the Seine and the Marne. Thus, PAPI n ° 2 should in particular concern, from 2022, the Seine and Marne axes throughout the Île-de-France region, with an extension to the downstream part in the Yvelines.
