Jakob+Macfarlane agency to represent France at the Venice Architecture Biennale

This Biennale will be held from May 24 to November 23.

"Living with", proposed by the curators of the French Pavilion, Dominique Jakob, Brendan MacFarlane, Éric Daniel-Lacombe and Martin Duplantier, aims to "question the capacity of architecture to face climatic challenges, conflicts and the instability of the world", specifies the press release.

"In this world of polycrises and turbulent changes, of conflicts that multiply, and of a climate that becomes unpredictable, the world where millions of inhabitants are displaced and others have their homes in areas increasingly exposed to risks, permanent instability is a state that we must learn to live with. How can we continue to inhabit this planet while inventing, with these challenges, new ways of life?", is the question that this project aims to answer, explains the curatorial team.

The French pavilion (in the Giardini in Venice) will be closed in 2025 for major works but the exhibition will be installed in the "construction site", in the form of a "light structure designed as an inclusive shelter, an open laboratory (...)", according to the press release.

The project will be detailed in Paris on February 12 in the presence of the winning team, at the Cité de la Mode et du Design (Paris 13th), designed by the Jakob+Macfarlane agency.

This architecture, urban planning and design agency, created in 1998, works on applied research for the development of architecture in line with environmental emergencies and the challenges of the XNUMXst century. It has notably designed the French University of Egypt and many other urban sites in France and internationally.
