2030 Olympics: Still no white smoke for the CEO of the Cojo

Expected last Monday after an executive meeting of the Cojo, the appointment of the man who will be Edgar Grospiron's right-hand man had already been postponed once.

It was again the case on Monday in Marseille, following a new executive board meeting, with the main players in the case nevertheless assuring that it was now imminent.

"For formal reasons, today we're talking about Solideo. But don't worry, there's a board meeting in three days, and things will be clarified," declared Edgar Grospiron, the head of the Cojo. A board meeting of the organizing committee is scheduled for Thursday in Lyon.

Asked whether the name of Cyril Linette, former director general of the newspaper L'Equipe and former head of the PMU, was indeed the one that would be chosen, Grospiron replied: "I have no other."

"We decided not to do it today. We were divided, but we said to ourselves that today was Solideo's time. And if we talked about the Cojo and the rest, we would no longer talk about Solideo," explained Renaud Muselier, president of the Paca region, who also took over as Solideo president on Monday.

The structure will have a rotating presidency, held in turn by the president of the Paca region and that of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, currently Fabrice Pannekoucke.

"So it's not the CEO's time. The Cojo will have his time later. But there's not much time to wait since it's Thursday anyway," Renaud Muselier also assured. "Honestly, it's an open secret," he added when asked about Cyril Linette's name.
