JCB launches world's only 55kW soil compactor over 10 tonnes without SCR

This new 12-ton single-drum soil compactor incorporates components from the 116D and VM117 models to create a complete compaction range.

Clean compaction…

Power is provided by the 55 kW JCB 430 diesel engine. This engine does not require SCR to meet regulations, making the VM1188D the world's first and only Stage V soil compactor over 10 tonnes without SCR. This reduces operating costs and complexity, making the machine easier for customers to operate and maintain on a daily basis.

The high-torque motor drives a 4-mode traction system: work, travel, slope, and a specific mode for the padfoot drum. This system can climb slopes of up to 55%. The vibrating drum offers frequencies of 32Hz and 36Hz and a choice of two amplitudes, 1,8mm and 0,8mm. Two centrifugal force settings are also available: 256kN and 147kN.

Easy maintenance…

Under the wide-opening hood is an organized engine compartment, with easy ground access to all maintenance points. The layout, with the cooling unit behind the operator, then the engine and finally the hydraulic pumps, allows for a very low hood angle, providing optimal visibility to the rear of the machine.

The soil compactor is optionally equipped with JCB's IntelliCompaction system and features connected compaction through the JCB LiveLink telematics system. A JCB LiveLink subscription is included for the first five years of use.

New cabin…

The VM118D benefits from a new cab and a new ROPS/FOPS operator station.

Flat cab windows reduce replacement costs in the event of damage.

A 7-inch touchscreen, using the same JCB UX interface as the latest X Series excavators, displays all machine functions and, combined with a thumbwheel, provides easy access to all menus. The cab includes front and rear LED work lights, four roof-mounted rotating beacons, flat glazing for easy replacement, and an air conditioning and heating unit integrated into the cab roof. An optional security pack includes a road lighting kit, a lynx call reversing alarm, and an anti-theft device.
