In Morocco, the King inaugurates a platform to strengthen the response to natural disasters

Located in the commune of Ammeur, north of the capital, this infrastructure will include four warehouses, two shelters for oversized equipment, a heliport and several parking lots.

It will be built on a 20-hectare site for an estimated budget of more than 27 million euros, according to the official Moroccan news agency MAP.

This project, launched on the King's instructions after the deadly September 2023 earthquake near Marrakech, is part of a national program aimed at providing similar structures in Morocco's 12 regions. The program's total investment exceeds €668 million, according to the same source.

These platforms will be equipped with emergency supplies such as tents, blankets, beds, medicines and food, "in order to immediately deal" with disasters such as floods, earthquakes, river floods, mudslides, chemical, industrial or radiological risks, MAP specified.

Morocco ranks 53rd in the world in terms of risk exposure, according to the World Risk Report 2023.
