In Italy, Roma submits the plans for its future stadium

This technical and economic feasibility study is the final step before the executive project which launches the construction work.

The project envisions "an iconic architecture inspired by Roman tradition, with modern lines and a strong link to the local territory," Roma said in a statement released a few days ago.

It also includes, among other things, "targeted interventions aimed at improving urban mobility".

"The importance of the project, in terms of dimensions, the modernity of the stadium, the potential urban impact and the planned deadlines allow the Pietralata stadium," a district in northeast Rome, "to be among the potential stadiums to host Euro 2032," the club said.

Roma share the Stadio Olimpico with their great rival, Lazio, but for several years both clubs have wanted to each have their own stadium.

The Gialorosso club, controlled by the Friedkin family, an American family, has been working for several months on this stadium project in Pietralata.

The issue of Italian stadiums, the vast majority of which are obsolete, is a source of tension in the lead-up to Euro 2032.

UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin described the state of Italian stadiums as "shameful" last May.

Italy, which has to provide five venues for the tournament, recently appointed an extraordinary commissioner for its stadiums, whose mission will be to facilitate modernization and construction work that often encounters administrative delays.
