Homematic IP offers its home automation touchscreen controls in wireless versions.

Previously offered for wired Homematic IP installations, the eQ-3 glass touchscreens are now available in two wireless versions. They allow for centralized control of multiple connected home devices from a wall-mounted interface.

The range includes the Homematic IP Glass Screen, primarily intended for lighting and sun protection, as well as the Homematic IP Glass Screen Plus, which adds heating, air conditioning and access management functions.

A radio connection suitable for existing buildings

These new versions communicate wirelessly with Homematic IP system equipment. This allows them to be integrated into existing buildings or home automation systems that lack the bus cabling required by previous Homematic IP Wired versions.

The term "wireless" refers to the transmission of data and commands. Both screens must be connected to a 230V power supply with a neutral conductor and installed in a standard flush-mounting box.

Two levels of control for the connected home

The Homematic IP glass display offers five customizable display pages, each with up to four function zones. A sixth page is dedicated to information transmitted by a weather sensor.

From this interface, the user can control the lighting, adjust its brightness or color temperature, and operate the roller shutters and blinds. The positioning of the Venetian blind slats can also be adjusted from the screen.

The Homematic IP Glass Screen Plus adds five pages, bringing the total number of available pages to eleven. This version allows users to set the target temperature in multiple rooms and display data from the system's sensors, such as ambient temperature, humidity level, and window openness status.

It also integrates the control of access control equipment, including electric strikes and the Homematic IP pro lock mechanism.

New centralized management functions

The two screens now allow switching between Day and Night modes, triggering custom automations, or activating notification groups.

The functions can be freely organized to group the most frequently used commands. Multiple devices, scenarios, or automations can thus be controlled from a single control point.

These new features will also be available to users of existing Homematic IP Wired displays. eQ-3 plans to integrate them via a future firmware update, though a release date has not yet been specified.

A touch or contactless control

Both devices take the form of wall-mounted black glass touchscreens measuring 96 × 96 × 43 mm. Their high-resolution color display is backlit and activates automatically when a sensor detects the user's approach.

The functions can be controlled directly from the touchscreen or without contact using Quick Action mode. A back-and-forth movement of the hand in front of the device then triggers a pre-configured action, such as turning on a light.

The screen brightness also adapts to ambient light in order to limit its intensity during the night.
