Holcim finalizes the acquisition of the Alkern Group and strengthens its leadership in sustainable construction in France

Holcim announces that it has finalized the acquisition of the entire Alkern Group from Chequers Capital. The transaction, having received the necessary regulatory approvals, is effective as of December 30, 2025.

Alkern thus joins the French operations of the Holcim group, alongside Lafarge France and PRB, consolidating the group's territorial presence in France and its ambition to be the reference partner for sustainable construction projects.

Alkern: a leading industrial player, a leader in its markets

Founded in 1972, Alkern has a dense geographical network with over 50 production sites in France and Belgium and employs 1.000 people. Alkern offers its clients a range of sustainable solutions to decarbonize building construction, enhance outdoor and landscaped spaces, and adapt infrastructure to the effects of climate change, particularly with climate resilience and water management solutions.

A key step in the NextGen Growth 2030 strategy

This acquisition fits perfectly into Holcim's roadmap to increase the share of its Construction Solutions activities (concrete, mortar, construction systems, etc.) to the same level of revenue as those relating to Construction Materials (cement and aggregates) by 2030. By integrating Alkern, Holcim accelerates the industrialization of sustainable construction and strengthens its ability to offer innovative and low-carbon construction methods.

An integration model based on autonomy and growth

Following the successful integration of PRB in 2022, Alkern is joining Holcim while retaining its operational autonomy. The current management team, led by Xavier Janin, remains in place. The merger is based on three strategic pillars:

Continuity: preservation of the Alkern brand, its organization, its teams and its industrial model. This is a growth acquisition.
Complementarity: implementation of commercial and operational synergies with sister entities (Lafarge France, PRB).
Sustainability: accelerating innovation through access to the Holcim Group's global R&D center (located near Lyon), to develop increasingly efficient solutions in terms of decarbonization, climate adaptation, water management and urban beautification.
