Hermès unveils its 23rd leather goods store in Puy-de-Dôme

Leather goods and saddlery, the core business of the luxury group, saw its first-half sales increase by 15,7% over a year and exceed 3,2 billion euros. The group's turnover over this period increased by 12% to 7,5 billion euros.

To meet this growing demand, Hermès has increased its production capacity by an average of one new leather good per year over the past ten years.

The Riom leather goods factory completes the group's Auvergne hub, which also includes the Sayat leather goods factory, established for over 20 years, and a Hermès school of expertise in Riom since 2022.

In Riom, the luxury group has renovated 7.000 m³ of one of the wings of the Manufacture des tabacs, a former industrial site listed as a historic monument since 2004 and located in the city center, according to a press release.

Hermès has entrusted the Tracks-Architectes firm with the rehabilitation of these buildings.

The project "responds to the eco-responsible approach of the house which aims to limit the artificialization of surfaces, to choose local partner companies and to source and use sustainable materials for the renovation", according to the press release.

The factory employs 250 craftsmen, in addition to around thirty employees in management, human resources and logistics roles.

Three other manufacturing projects are underway, in L'Isle-d'Espagnac (Charente), Loupes (Gironde) and Charleville-Mézières (Ardennes) where recruitment and training are underway.
