A few days ago, the luxury group Hermès inaugurated its twenty-fourth leather goods store in France, in Isle-d'Espagnac in Charente, which will eventually house 260 artisans, according to a press release.
Hermès, whose sales continue to grow, saw its turnover increase by more than 7% in the first half of 2025, to €8 billion. "This new factory confirms the house's choice to continue producing exclusively in France, in regions that are the cradles of manufacturing expertise," the group said.
This new site joins the three leather goods factories in the Southwest hub: the Nontron factory opened in 1995, followed by the Saint-Junien glove and leather goods factory in 1998, and then the Montbron leather goods factory in 2014.
"Kelly and Birkin bags, as well as small leather goods, are made in this new leather goods factory," Hermès explains.
The group received support from the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Development and Innovation Agency and the Greater Angoulême urban community for this new site.
The group has three other site projects underway in Loupes (Gironde), Charleville-Mézières (Ardennes) and Colombelles (Calvados), a project announced in April and which should open in 2028.
